Monday Update:
Well, the SolarCity employees were here again today. They made some real progress. I've added pictures and a new movie to my gallery.
Here's one picture just for good measures. :)
They still have 6 panels to install and haven't run the cables from the roof through the conduit to the inverter, but hopefully they'll wrap up tomorrow, and then the next waiting game starts with the city (to approve the work) then SCE to do the inspection and possibly swap meters.
Let's hurry up and wait!

SCE doesn't actually do an inspection. They just send you an approval letter in the mail, about 10-14 days after SolarCity sends them the paperwork with your city inspector's report. (10 days in our case). The SCE letter includes a yellow net metering tag to attach to your meter.
And then they have 30 business days to decide whether to replace your meter (in our case they replaced ours about 3 weeks after we got the approval letter).
It's all on the SCE website if you search for "Net Metering" and go to the FAQs.
kyselina665,
Thanks for the details. I had read previously that SCE had to do an inspection, I'm glad to hear that isn't the case. Did it feel like eternity for you to get through all this stuff? It seems never-ending. :)

Yeah, it does take a while, it was about 3 months for us from lease signing to SCE approval. But we were out of town for several weeks while the design process was going on, so it didn't seem so long. And our installation was simpler than yours - 12 panels, single story, composite shingles - so it took less than 3 days.
Our system has been running for over two months now, and I still like going outside to watch the meter spin backwards. ;-)
